This new book, titled “Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty” is a combination of my personal surgical philosophy and techniques. Readers will be able to clearly experience the world of rhinoseptoplasty through this book. Areas in which I lacked sufficient expertise were reinforced through several marvelous chapters submitted by many of my greatest colleagues.
One thing I learned after becoming immersed in the field of rhinoplasty is that it is rarely beneficial to have strong dogmas or biases towards certain methods. It is essential that surgeons approach various surgical methods with an open mind and humbly accept the subtle and unpredictable changes that inevitably follow a rhinoseptoplasty procedure.
For the past two dozen years I’ve spent as a rhinoplasty surgeon, I’ve felt like a student of rhinoseptoplasty and it seems I will continue to be one. That is because the field of rhinoseptoplasty has never allowed me to loosen my academic rigor and passion and has kept arrogance at bay.
I hope this somewhat confessional book “Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty” can be a meaningful guide and companion for my readers who have set on the exciting yet arduous path of rhinoplasty.
I am deeply indebted to the authors who helped create this book. I am confident their contributions will bear fruit in the changes and realizations the readers will go through. I also express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Eduard M. Alfanta, who immensely helped in the English editing of this book. Finally, my thanks go out to my patients, who through their relationships with me shared both joy and frustration. Every patient has been my greatest mentor.
