In 1973, after becoming a neurosurgeon, I specialized in painful lesion and treated many cases via surgical and non-surgical approaches.
Each cases were reviewed by comparing the pre- and post-treatment objective findings (CT, MRI, X-ray, and laboratory studies).
Although objective findings showed good results of treatment, many patients were still suffering from pain. In these cases, neuropsychiatry was consulted for further treatment.
However, I had a doubt whether there was another factor to these unresolved pain. In 1999, an research article by R.R. Ji and C.J. Woolf from Harvard Medical School began to open a door to solving this doubt. Many other outstanding articles about the mechanism was followed by. I tried to standarze molecular mechanism of pain over the years.
The most driving key rolled mechanism was discovered to be altered coupling to signal transduction. The next step was to develop the appropriate therapeutic tool to utilize this mechanism for pain treatment. In 2004 and 2005, M-puncture (molecular targeting by acupuncture) was developed as the effective therapeutic tool.
These studies were integrated as a basis for Jun’s model and theory and technology of M-puncture, and this book has been written in a complete different approach from the preceding publications. It has been written to provide easy access and understanding of the pain mechanism and technology for medical teaching faculties and clinicians.
The driving force of the main mechanism is reflected in the molecular lesion in nociceptive neuron; therefore, Existing previous approaches for pain treatment such as surgical and non-surgical, is insufficient efficacy in solving lesion
